The event "Kotor Winter Fest" combines newly conceptualized and traditional happenings that have been held in Kotor in previous years to celebrate Christmas and New Year's holidays.
“We are continuing where we left off last year, but this year we have an expanded program lasting two full months. Winter Fest is something we haven’t had the opportunity to see or experience in our closer surroundings. This is a completely new tourism product,” said Jovan Ristić, director of the Kotor Tourist Organization.
Over the course of its 65 days, Kotor will host 70 events across four squares, featuring 22 participants from the country and the region.
The grand New Year's Eve celebration will take place at the Square of Arms with a concert by Severina, followed by a performance by Dino Merlin the next evening. In addition to these stars, the Winter Fest will feature local performers as well as Goca Tržan, Neno Belan, Yu Group, Adi Šoše, and others. Croatian music star Stela Rade, who was initially scheduled to open Winter Fest last Friday, will perform on a rescheduled date during the two-month festival.
“What everyone eagerly anticipates are the concerts at the main city square during the two Christmas celebrations, three New Year’s Eve events, and numerous concerts at the waterfront where the Bazaar is located. After the COVID year and the one that followed, we are returning to the square with the Children's New Year celebration, featuring a concert by Tijana Dapčević, Zoe Kida, and the children's choir of the Serbian Singing Society 'Jedinstvo,' along with Santa Claus distributing presents. Truly, there will be an abundance of events and music to suit all tastes and all ages,” announced Ristić.
The Mayor of Kotor, Vladimir Jokić, expressed his gratitude to the Kotor Tourist Organization, the Secretariat for Urbanism and Spatial Planning of Kotor, the Protection and Rescue Service, the Municipal Enterprise, and all city services that participated in organizing an event of this scale.
“I believe Kotor will truly be the center of tourism in Montenegro during the winter months. From tonight until February 3, we will have a rich program. With the excellent hospitality offerings at the Bazaar, I believe this will make Kotor bustling with tourists and events. This will bring a new level of recognition to the entire city and provide a new benefit to the tourism industry,” stated Jokić.
Hotel accommodations for New Year’s week are almost fully booked, and the Kotor Tourist Organization is urging everyone interested in the New Year’s program to book their accommodations as soon as possible.
“I invite everyone interested to secure their accommodations as quickly as possible, whether in private lodging or hotels, to avoid driving on the day of the concerts. Prices are reasonable and completely in line with expectations. Nearly all restaurants will be open. The entire city is ready for what lies ahead in the next two months,” said Jovan Ristić, director of the Kotor Tourist Organization.
